Cyberattack on Pharmascience reminds us of the fragility of Canada’s supply chain
Over the years, cyber-attacks have multiplied in the pharmaceutical sector. Now it’s Montreal-based Pharmascience’s turn to be the target of such an act. While its drug production does not appear to have been disrupted, the event serves as a reminder of the fragility of the country’s drug supply chain.
On Wednesday, La Presse revealed that the largest Canadian-owned pharmaceutical company, Pharmascience, had been the target of a cyberattack in recent weeks. The company confirmed that it had discovered an intrusion into its computer system on June1 , but refused to give details of the scale and duration of the attack.
The Montreal-based generic drug manufacturer – which offers more than 1,400 products – would not confirm whether a ransom was demanded or paid, or whether any data was stolen... Source
